Due to the overwhelming content, again, my comments will be brief. I am sickened by Alan's writings. Alan had reached a point where he not only knew no boundaries, he was finding it exceedingly difficult to reach the emotional highs he so desired. Alan wrote, "The process was sexual, and extremely sadistic, although not in the physical way. What I wanted (and was determined to get) was to have both youngsters see the other, and then himself, totally give up. I wanted both to feel that they were powerless to resist anything." Alan continued to, as he put it, "act out" for another 20 years becoming more and more brazen and dangerous. He feels like writing these letters will somehow enlighten parents to understand the illness of pedophilia and in his mind, "Pedophilia is no more an act of control than it is an act of sex or rage or any other single element. But I hope that from what I have written, you will see that the element of control is critical and is one that clearly needs to be understood if we are ever to deal effectively with pedophilia."
